Redirecting Your Domain Using a 301 Redirect

A guide on how to redirect your old domain to a new domain using a permanent 301 redirect.

You can connect a new domain to your Super site and set up a permanent 301 redirect from your old domain to the new one.

The domain switch is handled in Super, while the 301 redirect from the old domain to the new domain is usually configured at your domain provider (registrar).

Steps to Complete the Domain Change

  1. Disconnect your current domain from Super

    • Go to your Super dashboard

    • Remove the existing connected domain (e.g., yourdomain.xyz)

  2. Connect your new domain to Super

    • Add your new domain (e.g., yourdomain.io) in the Super dashboard

    • Update your DNS settings to point the new domain to Super’s required records

    • Wait for DNS propagation to complete

  3. Set up a 301 redirect from the old domain

    • Log in to your domain registrar (where the old domain is managed)

    • Locate the forwarding or redirect settings

    • Create a permanent 301 redirect from:

      • yourdomain.xyzyourdomain.io

Important Notes

  • The domain connection in Super only controls which domain your site uses.

  • The 301 redirect must be configured at the domain provider level.

  • DNS changes may take some time to fully propagate (usually a few minutes up to 24–48 hours).

  • A 301 redirect ensures SEO value is preserved and visitors are automatically sent to your new domain
