Media Upload Limits: Video and Image Guidelines for Super

Understand Super’s 200MB video limit and 10MB image cap, why large files are restricted, and why embedding from platforms like YouTube improves site speed, performance, and SEO.

To ensure fast, reliable performance for all websites on Super, we’ve set upload limits for the video and image files being uploaded in Notion. These limits help protect site speed, platform stability, and overall user experience.

Video File Limit

Maximum file size: 200 MB per video file (per asset)

  • Any video file over 200 MB will be rejected by the CDN.

  • Files exceeding this limit will not be downloaded by Super.

  • The video will not display on your site.

What to do if your video is larger than 200 MB

If your video exceeds 200 MB, we recommend hosting it on an external platform such as:

  • YouTube

  • Vimeo

You can then embed the video in Notion instead of uploading it directly. This keeps your page lightweight and loads much faster for visitors. Videos or images linked from other platforms will display on your site if the platform allows it.

Image File Limit

Maximum file size: 10 MB per image

  • Images larger than 10 MB may fail to upload or display properly.

  • Large image files can significantly slow down your page load time.

For best results:

  • Compress images before uploading.

  • Use optimized formats like JPG or WebP where possible.

  • Resize images to the actual dimensions needed on your page.

Why These Limits Exist

These limits are in place to:

  • Ensure the smoothest possible site performance for all users.

  • Prevent system strain caused by extremely large file uploads.

  • Protect platform stability.

Previously, we encountered an incident where very large media files (including full-length movies) were uploaded directly to Super. This negatively impacted system performance and other users’ experience.

Super does not support uploading extremely large video files, including full-length movies or content from streaming platforms such as Netflix. To prevent this from happening again, we implemented strict upload size limits.

Important:

If you upload large media files directly to your page (instead of embedding them), it can:

  • Dramatically increase page load time

  • Affect mobile performance

  • Reduce SEO performance

  • Create a poor experience for visitors

Embedding videos from trusted hosting platforms is always the recommended approach for large media files. Files hosted externally will display on your site if the platform allows it, even if they exceed the direct upload limits.
