Failure Creating Site in Super.so

Avoid site creation errors by using English characters and ensuring your Notion pages are shared publicly

Written by Charlene

This issue commonly occurs for three main reasons:

  1. Using Non English Characters

Non-English characters, such as Japanese, Korean, or Chinese, can cause errors during site creation. To prevent this, we strongly recommend using English characters when creating your site. You can always update the site name later if needed, but starting with English characters ensures a smooth setup without any issues.

  2. Notion Page not being Published

Second, the problem can arise if your Notion page isn’t shared publicly. Private pages will trigger an error indicating that the page doesn’t exist. To avoid this, make sure all Notion pages you want to display on your site are set to public.

  3. Using Custom Notion URL

Third, this issue can happen when using a custom Notion URL instead of the default public Notion link. Super relies on the original Notion page ID found in the default Notion URL to properly detect, connect, and rebuild the page within the system.

Custom URLs, shortened links, or redirected domains may hide or remove the original page ID, which prevents Super from identifying the correct page. As a result, the site creation process may fail or return an error.

To avoid this issue, always use the default public Notion URL when creating your site by unpublishing and publishing your Notion page. Once the site is successfully connected, you can still use your custom domain with Super afterward.
